Meditate_Meditative Toolkit_Questions about Meditation
When Somebody becomes a Nobody :  First you need a shift from the objective to the subjective.  Meditate more and more with closed eyes about your emotions, your thoughts.  Look deeper into the inner world, the world that is absolutely private to you.  The objective is Public; the subjective is Private.
Dreams are private; they’re subjective; the objective is the market place.  Many people can watch one thing, but most people cannot watch one thought, only one person can — the person to whom the thought belongs.
Remove your consciousness more and more towards the private.  The poet lives a private life, the politician lives a public life.  A private life is a rich life.  The politician’s life is there to be watched by everybody : on TV, in newspapers, on the street, in the crowd.  The politician only has a public face.  You have to find your private face, and you should start learning how to love the private —- because the private is the door to godliness.  The public is the door to science, but not to religion.  The public is the door towards arithmetic, calculation, but it is not the door to love. Enjoy things which are very private : music, painting, poetry …… Zen insisted on calligraphy, painting, poetry, gardening ——- something that is absolutely private, something that you live from the inside towards the outside, something that rises as a wave in the innermost core of your being and spreads around.
Public life is just the reverse : something rises outside and faces in towards you; the original, the source, is always outside.  During Vincent van Gogh’s whole life not a single painting was sold, but that didn’t matter; he enjoyed himself. The real prize was not in their being sold and appreciated, the real prize was in the painter creating them.  In that very creation, he has attained his goal.

People usually divide their life into two areas : WORKING & RELAXING.  They think it is impossible to relax and feel peaceful, while working or doing any activity.  If they have to steal some time away from their busy work schedule for meditation, it is not going to ever happen.  Given today’s hectic life style everybody needs a dose of meditation, because life has become so stressful, that if they don’t get a MEDITATION PILL to calm their nerves, their tensions will translate into physical ailments.
Osho has devised many short meditations for the modern man,  They are as easy as popping a pill.  If you are going for an important meeting, and you are bored to death listening to a long presentation, or you feel suffocated working in the cramped office, don’t carry this irritation inside the heart.  While you are in this situation, try this Osho meditation.
relaxation-techniquesIf you can, close your eyes, but if you cannot, then start with exhaling as deeply as you can, throw the air out.  After exhaling deeply, pull your belly in and remain in this position for a few seconds.  DON’T INHALE for a few seconds.  Then allow the body to inhale deeply.  Again, stop for a few seconds.  The gap should be the same as you retain the breath out.  If   you retain for 3 secs, retain the breath in for 3 secs.  Exhale totally and inhale totally, and make a rhythm.  Immediately, you will feel a change coming into your whole being.  With the throwing out of the air, the mood will be thrown out too.
What happens is that as you start creating a rhythm, your mind is diverted from your problem.  .  You cannot be angry, because your mind is now filled with this new activity.  You are completely absorbed in it, so the co-operation with anger is broken.——– Secondly, this type of exhaling and inhaling CLEANSES THE WHOLE BODY.  When you empty your lungs and don’t inhale for a few seconds, the whole body throws all that is poisonous into the blood.  A gap is created in the body.  In that gap all the poisonous gasses get mixed with breathing, so with the next exhalation, they are thrown out.  Your mind becomes calm, because breath and the mind affect each other closely.
By doing this for a few minutes, you will find that the situation is the same, but YOU HAVE CHANGED ——— you become peaceful and relaxed AMIDST THE WHOLE CHAOS.

Believing in the impossible before breakfast

This is the title of Osho’s book.

Why believe in the impossible before breakfast ?  Osho masterfully turns everything into meditation.  He says : In the morning, when you have just awakened, have a look around you, listen to the chirping of the birds, so that consciously you can see who you are.  This is meditation is all about.  When the whole atmosphere is awake, you can ride on this tide of awakening, and you can enter into your being——AWAKE, ALERT, AWARE, and your whole day will be transformed, because then YOU WLL HAVE A DIFFERENT ORIENTATION.

185_Believing_the_Impossible_bigWhen you are just out of sleep, you are closer to your higher self.  The negative mind is not yet functioning, as you are in tune with your being.  Therefore, it is easier to believe in your hidden potential.  Once you believe it deeply, you can garner strength, which makes the impossible——–POSSIBLE.

Satya Nadella, the new CEO of Microsoft, paraphrased Oscar Wilde’s quote :  We need to believe in the impossible and remove the improbable.  The original quote goes thus :  Man can believe the impossible, but man can never believe the improbable.

Why ? Because the impossible is just an idea, which can never materialise, so one doesn’t have to do anything to make it happen, if one gears up all the energies, takes the risk and strives hard.  Very few have this courage, so it is convenient not to believe in the improbable.  If you want to go on evolving, IMAGINE THE UNIMAGINABLE, REACH OUT TO THE NEW HORIZONS, TRY TO GO BEYOND THE FRONTIER OF THE KNOWN.
